Parent Involvement

Dear Grace Preschool Parents,

As you may or may not be aware there have been some dynamic changes in the organization of the Grace Preschool Parent’s Board for the 2011-2012 school year.  The Staff of Grace Preschool has expressed a wish to create a program where parents are very involved and have a strong voice in the education and care of their students.  We are very excited about the prospect of creating an effective and long lasting program that can carry the Parent’s Board far into the future.  To do this we are asking for some very dedicated parents willing to give their time and energy to organize events, fundraising and volunteers.  So far we have been lucky to have three individuals commit to leadership positions on the board, including President, Vice President and Secretary.

While we are still in the process of finalizing positions and procedures, we are looking for individuals to become involved in a number of ways: 

• We still have need of a Treasurer for the Board.  This position would entail collecting receipts for activities done by the Board, working with the Preschool Director Chistine Ayoub when budgets or reimbursements are necessary, as well as chairing the Fundraising committee.

• A Parent Volunteer Coordinator: We need a very organized and responsive volunteer to coordinate all of our Parent Volunteers.  This would include being a liaison for all Room Moms, helping to coordinate Party Parent Volunteers, setting up Mystery Reader schedules with teachers and generally making sure that the time and efforts of our volunteers is used effectively!

• A Teacher’s Appreciation Event Coordinator.  This position would be in charge of heading the committee to plan the Teacher’s Appreciation Event and Awards. 

• We are going to have a number of committees to organize efforts throughout the year.  We will need volunteers to help on each of the following committees:
• School Directory Committee: Helping to compile and organize student and with parent information into a directory to be given to each family
• Fundraising Committee: Creating and organizing events to help raise money for the school.  This year the Parents’ Board is committed to helping the Grace Preschool raise money for the addition of some new playground equipment. (Details to follow)
• Events Committee: These parents would help our two co-coordinators with planning events including:  “The Before School Starts Back Family Landscaping Picnic” (–keep an eye out for a post card this summer with more info on participating in this! ), Welcome Back Coffee, Preschool Dinner, holiday events and more.
• Yearbook Committee:  Taking photos at school events and working with our Yearbook coordinator/Secretary to organize and create yearbooks.
• Teacher’s Appreciation Committee:  We need members to organize the event, goody bags and awards for our fabulous teachers.
