Your wedding will be one of the most important events of your life! We will do everything we can to assist you in making your wedding beautiful, meaningful and sacred.
Our church is available for weddings for practising members, non-practising members and Christians not belonging to our church. We have a Wedding Coordinator who will help you with the scheduling of an available day on our church calendar and on our Pastor's calendar. The Wedding Coordinator will also check the availability of our Organist and Technician, if their services are desired. Other Pastor's are also welcome to perform the ceremony for non-members. In general, there should be about a 6 month lead to allow for the scheduling of a day that is good for you and your plans.
The rehersal will be Friday night and the wedding must be on Saturday, although it may be anytime during the day. All of Saturday will be reserved for your wedding. You may choose to dress at the church. We have spaceous rooms for the Bride and Bridesmaids as well as the Groom, Best Man and Ushers.
Our church is not available for weddings on Sundays or week days. It is also not available on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Labor Day, Memorial Day or Fourth of July.
The Reception Hall seats approximately 150 people. There are 10 tables and 100 chairs for use. The kitchen is available for food preparation. It includes an oven, refrigerator and two microwaves. All food, Set-up, clean up, and take down are the responsiblity of the party arranging the wedding. No alchoholic beverages are permitted.
The Pastor must be given a copy of the license at the rehersal. At that time, the couple must also provide proof of Premarital counceling. There are several certified counceling centers in the Lake Mary area. Proof of the counceling will provide a reduction in the licensing cost since it is approved by the State of Florida as well as being required by the Methodist Church. We recommend using Sanlando Christian Counceling Center (407-339-5324) at 1890 W. State Rd. Rt 434, Longwood, Florida. The Wedding Coordinator can provide additional information on time requirements and costs.
The Pastor will conduct the rehearsal with any wedding consultants being advisory only. The rehersal should take about one hour and is extemely important since it will allow the wedding day to go smoothly with all participants knowing exactly what to do or say. The Organist and Technician, as well as the Wedding Coordinator will attend to ensure that all aspects of the ceremony are ready for the next day.
The church is already 'decorated' with a lovely cross, candles and Bible on the alter. These items must not be removed. However, flowers and candles may be added to the altar to enhance it's appearance. During Easter and Christmas time there are additional decorations which must not be removed so these items should be discussed with the Wedding Coordinator if you wedding falls within these timeframes.
The church does have pew bows and votive lights which can be used to decorate the pews. If these decorations are desired please discuss them with the Wedding Coordinator. Otherwise, your own florist may provide pew decorations. Flowers may be placed any where within the church in vases. A carpet covering is required if fresh flower petals are used. Please tell the coordinator if you are planning to use fresh flower petals. Cleaning the church and removing all flower petals must be done Saturday night. If the church is not left in the appropriate manner, a cleaning charge will result against the arranging party. Also, no tacks or pins may be used in decorating due to the damage to the church woodwork and furnishings.
Our Organist is very knowledgeable and experienced and will provide beautiful music for your wedding. He also provides music while guests are arriving. Special requests should be discussed with the Organist with 4 months lead time. Our technician will provide the microphones and sound equipment to make certain that everyone can hear all of the ceremony. Special equipment is available for people with extreme hearing problems.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the building including the restrooms. When smoking outside, the cigarette butts may not be disposed on church property. Alchohol is not to be served or consumed on the church property.
Rice and confetti are not to be used, however, bird seed or bubbles may be used outside the church.
All candles must have appropriate stands so that dripping wax does not fall onto the alter or carpets. Candelabras and the stands are available for rent from a florist and will be removed by the florist following the service.
Photographs and video recordings are permitted during the ceremony. Flash photographs and flood lights are not permitted. The church is available for an hour after the ceremony for additional photographs. There is an additional charge of $50 if more time is required for photos.
A downpayment of $100 is required when the church is reserved. The remainder of the church payment is due 2 weeks before the ceremony. The Pastor, Organist and Technician should also be paid at that time.
